Michael Colby Jones is one of eight people in the world certified to teach the techniques of Patsy Rodenburg as a Registered Rodenburg Teacher (RRT). In addition to teaching at Brooklyn College since 2008, MCJ also teaches in the MFA and BFA Acting programs at LIU Post, and at Michael Howard Studios in their Conservatory Programs. MCJ was an Assistant Professor at Ithaca College in the BFA Acting and Musical Theater programs, and taught at NYU’s New Studio on Broadway for three years. Over the course of his university teaching career, MCJ has taught classical and contemporary scene study and text analysis, voice and speech for actors, movement, unification of voice and movement, and audition techniques. MCJ’s private coaching clients have performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and at major regional theaters as well as on television in Blacklist, Blue Bloods, Law & Order: SVU, Anger Management, and Orange Is the New Black.

MCJ has created roles as a member of eight original NY casts, as well as “multitudinous” productions of Shakespeare. He has worked on television in recurring roles, and in independent film. MCJ's NYC directing credits include Office Hours (Manhattan Rep), ART (Alchemical Theatre), and over 70 plays for the Gi60 International One-Minute Play Festival.

MCJ has studied with Patsy Rodenburg since 2009, and been a studio member at Michael Howard Studios since 2003. Trained extensively in multiple modalities within the disciplines of acting, singing, and dancing, MCJ now focuses on helping others discover their own voice as a unified component of physical self, allowing release into presence for the purpose of storytelling — whether it be scripted, personal, or professional.

MCJ is a proud member of AEA, SAG-AFTRA, ATHE, CWA, and VASTA.
